I joined Brian Everingham and party on a walk of the National Parks Association of NSW. Many of the party caught a train to Cronulla and then the ferry to Bundeena where we met Brian and the rest of the party and travelled in cars to the start of the Coast Track.

For most of the walk, it rained lightly, but this did not dampen our spirits. It was great to be out in this fantastic scenery.

On this part of the Coast Track, there is a section of beautiful sandstone that has been eroded by the years to show some amazing Liesegang rings. It was very sad to see this desecration-

This is very disrespectful and so bad to see people doing this in a National Park.

I had to wander off the track a bit to find these Liesegang rings –

Sydney sandstone can also display another type of pattern known as ferruginous banding -which forms intersecting bands and troughs rather than rings.

Some of the party continued on to Marley Head while the rest of us waited under shelter on the cliffs.

We walled back to the carpark at the start of the track at Bundeena and then headed to the club for lunch. Many thanks to Brian for leading the walk.
