I spent a very pleasant day visiting Malabar Headland National Park with Valerie and Sue, and later Alana.

We were hoping to see the resident Peregrine Falcons, and other raptors. Well, we spotted a Nankeen Kestrel early on at South Maroubra Beach.

The Nankeen Kestrel didn’t stay around for long, and soon flew off to the Rifle Range to hunt.
Here are some birds we saw walking out –
Silvereyes

New Holland Honeyeater

We had to wait a fair while on the cliffs before we spotted a Peregrine Falcon. The first one we saw was very far out to sea –

An interesting biplane flew past. It was a Boeing A75l-Strearman powered by a radial engine.

The we spotted a Peregrine Falcon fly past and ;and on the cliffs.

We watched it take off –

It later landed in another spot.

And the second Peregrine landed a bit further along the cliffs.

Back to the first one –

It took off –

And a bit later the second took off –

That was all we saw of the Peregrine Falcon that day.
There were a lot of fish in the water below –

As we walked back to Maroubra Beach, we heard this juvenile Grey Butcherbird calling –

And just before we got to the beach, we watched this Kelp Gull hunting for fish –

It flew back with a nice catch –

It had been a very pleasant day.
