Malabar Headland – Birds and Whales – 8 June 2026

I joined Sue for a very pleats day spent on Malabar Headland. We were hoping to see the resident pair of Peregrine Falcons, but had no luck – not even a passing flyby. But we did see two other raptors and some breaching whales.

The weather was certainly very pleasant. We were later joined by Alana when she went on her daily walk.

Here some Humpback Whales were passing some fishing boats. One of the whales breached very close to the boats, but I was unable to get a photo.

I later saw this Humpback Whale do multiple breaches –

And this seal was right below us –

Then a Nankeen Kestrel flew past –

It has caught a small fish –

As we were walking back to Maroubra Beach, an Osprey flew past us.
