Birds at Tempe Wetlands and Reserve – 20 July 2018

I spent a nice morning at Tempe – visiting the Wetlands and Tempe Reserve mainly photographing birds.

The highlight was getting some reasonably close photos of a Spotted Pardalote. This very small birds normally are found at the top of trees, so it is good to get photos of them close to ground level.

As well, I photographed some of the fast moving Welcome Swallows whizzing over the surface of the pools in their search for insects.

Also, some more regular visitors to the Wetlands. Silvereyes –

Red-browed Finches –

And some Superb Fairy-wrens in breeding plumage –

And a New Holland Honeyeater –

One not so common visitor, a Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo –

Walking around Tempe Reserve, I spotted a Pied Cormorant in the river with a fair sized fish –

And lastly a nice wasp –

Yellow Potter Wasp (Delta campaniforme)
