Nature at Oatley Park and Myles Dunphy Reserve – 8 November 2018

I spent an interesting day with Digi Dave wandering around Oatley Park looking for birds, flowers and other things to photograph.

Flying Duck Orchid

Quite a number of birds were out. Here are some that we saw –

Spotted Pardalote

Striated Thornbill

Sacred Kingfisher

White-browed Scrubwren

Wood Ducks

In the valley above Lime Kin Bay there were a number of reptiles –

Water Skinks

Water Dragons

Red-bellied Black Snake

And we also saw a few orchids –

Hyacinth Orchid

Flying Duck Orchid

And a few insects –

Later in the afternoon, we also made a visit to the nearby Myles Dunphy Reserve. This is a nice area of woodland near the railway line at Oatley. It contained a large camp of Flying Foxes. At this time of the year quite a few of the females are carrying babies.
