Watsons Bay to Dover Heights – 3 December 2018

This was a short afternoon walk along the Coastal Path between The Gap and Dover Heights. I caught a ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay then walked to The Gap. I was on the lookout for birds and in particular raptors, but those I saw were not very close.

Its still a very nice walk along the Coastal Path, past the Signal Station to the Macquarie Lighthouse, then around Diamond Bay. In the far distance I spotted a Nankeen Kestrel. But it didn’t fly very close.

At Diamond Bay, I saw a few fishermen half way down the cliffs. Its not immediately obvious how they get to that spot.

Then some more fine cliff views.

Then you need to leave to coast for s short section as you walk past the Dudley Page reserve with its fine views of the city. Then back to the coastal cliffs.  in the far distance I did spot two Peregrine Falcons. But they were a long way away.

Some of the other closer birds –

Silvereye

Willie Wagtail

Superb Fairy-wren

New Holland Honeyeater

Then I caught a bus to Bondi Junction and a train home from there.
