Malabar Headland National Park – 4 December 2018

I spent another pleasant day in Malabar Headland National Park.

White-bellied Sea Eagle

It was a reasonably windy day, so that would mean good conditions for raptors – ie they should be flying. So I went out to where I had seen the Peregrine Falcons. I soon spotted one perched on the cliffs – but it seemed  very settled.

On my way out, I had seen the usual lizards and insects –

And quite a few Horse Dung Fungi. Here is one merging from the sand along the track –

I then looked around for other photographic subjects. I spotted a pair of Superb Fairy-wrens that seemed to be courting –

I then went back to the Peregrine Falcon to see if it looked like flying. I waited a fair while in a nice shady spot and had my lunch. I eventually took off. I was not ready for its take off – but did get some pictures of it flying around.

It perched on a distant ledge for a while.

It flew away and I could not see where it had gone. It was time for me to move off.

On my way to Maroubra, I spotted a Sea Eagle flying overhead. I was being escorted by a Raven. After a while the Raven left it alone.

And near the carpark, the usual Superb Fairy-wrens –
