SUBW Christmas Walk to the Coxs River 15-16 December 2018

It was time for the annual Sydney University Bushwalkers Christmas Walk to the Coxs River. I met up with Roger, and we walked down to the campsite earlier then the main party.

The walk down was hot and we were looking forward to cooling off in the river. On the way, Roger, a botanist, was keen to look for some rainforest plants that he had seen many years earlier. So we made a short side excursion to look for them.

The river was perfect for swimming. The water level was higher than average and this made the rapids  good for photography. The rapids and the sculptured granite rock of the river bed make interesting subjects. Here are some photos take on the Saturday. All long exposures to get blurred water (to do this I used a ten stop neutral density filter and a tripod).

Later in the  afternoon, when the Sun was lower I took some more photos –

It was very noisy at the campsite due to a multitude of cicadas. When it got dark, the cicadas quietened down, but a chorus of bleating frogs started up.

That evening, around the campfire, we enjoyed sharing fine food and wines. We had a very pleasant evening.

Sunday – was a lazy day. More swimming in the pool and then gradually packing up and walking out.

Thanks to Ashley for organising the walk.
