Mammatus Clouds Over the City – 2 January 2019

Recently there has been a fair bit of stormy weather – including afternoon thunderstorms, some with hail. These storms often build up over the Blue Mountains and then move towards the coast.

On the 2nd January, I had been watching the weather radar, and noticed some thunderstorms were currently over the Blue Mountains. I looked outside and saw that there was a good display of Mammatus Clouds overhead. I have these spectacular clouds before – and they are often associated with severe storms ( See here and here)

On this occasion however – the clouds passed over and there were no storms near my place.
