Fungi at Bola Creek – 11 April 2019

I spent a day at Bola Creek in Royal National Park observing and photographing fungi and slime moulds. I was accompanied by Digi Dave.

Conditions were a bit dry, but nevertheless, a number of species were out. This included the Toothed Jellies (Pseudohydnum gelatinosum) –

We also spotted a few waxcaps. Mots were the usual red, Hygrocybe miniata.

But we also spotted a few clusters of an orange waxcap – in one small area. It is a species that I don’t think I have seen before, and does not appear in reference books. Gregg Cook has made the suggestion that it could be Hygrocybe chlorophana.

There were also some corals out –

And we found one trumpet fungus –

Here is one of the many boletes –

Some of the other fungi –

And some slime moulds –

More photos together with identification are online here on my website.
