Fungi at Ferndale Park – 14 April 2019

I spent a pleasant morning at Ferndale Park at Chatswood photographing fungi. It had been two weeks since my previous visit, and since that time a lot of fungi had fruited. Some of what I found this visit was now looking a bit dried out, but a fair bit was fresh.

I was on the lookout for waxcaps, and found two varieties. One was a shiny  red species, perhaps Hygrocybe erythrocala.

The second waxcap that I found was a few of what has become known as “the Ferndale Waxcap” – a species that starts out green and gradually turns pink. The ones I found this visit were quite dried out –

I also saw a lot of boletes –

And some Cortinarius –

Quite a few coral fungi were out –

I saw some tiny white fungi growing either on the ground, or buried wood. I have seen this species before and am not sure what it is. Perhaps Marasmiellus ‘cellypha’.

Another species that seemed quite abundant was a small fungus growing on the ground. I think it is Stereopsis hiscens.

Here are some of the other fungi I observed –

And one of the slime moulds I saw –

More photos, together with identifications are online here on my website.
