Fungi at Coachwood Glen – 13 April 2019

This was a very fruitful field activity of The Sydney Fungal Studies Group Inc. With a lot of people looking for fungi, a fascinating collection was observed.

I had been to Coachwood Glen, not long before and that had been a very interesting visit. On this occasion, we found some of the same fungi – looking a bit drier, but also quite a git of fresh fungi. The highlight, for me, was observing some interesting waxcaps. These are all probably the multicolour Hygrocybe iropus. Some of them, had a beautiful blue hue.

Here are more typical Hygrocybe iropus  –

Here are some of the other waxcaps we observed. Many of them looking a bit dried out.

We also found several examples of a white fungus growing on soil. It is perhaps a Craterellus sp.

Two specimens of the very rare stinkhorn Claustula fischeri were see. Here is one of them –

In a hollow tree, this very beautiful cup fungi was seen –

Here are some more Ascomycetes –

And some of the other fungi –

Some of the slime moulds –

More photos together with identifications are online here on my website.
