I spent a very pleasant day out at Malabar Headland National Park. It is whale watching season, and I ddi see quite a few whales. I also saw that both Peregrine Falcons were around – it must be their breeding season.
On the way out to Magic Point, I photographed some of the smaller birds – Superb Fairy-wrens and New Holland Honeyeaters.
I then continued towards Boora Point. I noticed some whales, mostly a fair way out –
I also spotted one of the Peregrine Falcons. It was perched on the cliffs.
I waited to see if it would take off. It eventually did and I was able to get some shots of it in flight.
It then either flew out of the area or landed on a ledge out of sight. I walked to the far side of the headland and noticed a Peregrine falcon flying overhead. It seemed to be returning to the nesting area. I headed back that way. I didn’t have to wait long for it to fly past.
And then I noticed there were two Falcons. The mating pair had reunited. I was not able to get any good photos of both of them however.
One of them landed on a ledge not too far down the cliffs –
I waited to see if it would take off. It did, but not in a very good direction for photos. It then flew out of sight.
I waited in the area, to see if the Peregrine Falcons would return and to see what else would come past. I did see a few more whales.
And I saw a Crested Tern with a fish.
It was time to head home, soI slowly made my way towards Maroubra. It had been a good day.
