Lane Cove River Fungi – Revisit 2 – 19 July 2019

This was another trip to check out the Parrot Waxcaps (Gliophorus psitacinus var. psittacinus) that are found in a small moist area along the Lane Cove River. I found them still out, a bit drier, but not that much different from my previous visit. I also photographed some fo the interesting coral fungi that is found in the same spot.

Here are photos of the Gliophorus psitacinus var. psittacinus –

They seem to have dried out rather than changed colour.

These two looked a bit fresher –

In the same spot are two species of very tiny coral fungi. I can’t recall seeing these at other locations, and I have been unable to find them in guidebooks or online. They both appear to be member s of the genus Ramariopsis – given their small size and the way they branch.

One has a darker brown base and then a lighter upper part which can branch once or twice.

The other has a similar structure, but has a light brown base and a white top –

I also found something that looks like a slime mould, but appears to be quite robust –

This seems little changed from my previous visit.

I then walked upstream on the Great North Walk Track to Browns Waterhole and walked to Eastwood Station via Terrys Creek. Here are some of the fungi from that section –

More photos together with identification are online here on my website.
