Taronga Zoo – 6 August 2019

Another trip to the Zoo. I had several motivations for this trip – one was to See the new baby Gorilla. The other was to try out new firmware for one of my camera bodies and see how well the “animal eye autofocus” worked.

When you go to the Zoo to see new arrivals like the Tiger cubs or the new baby Gorilla, you need to be prepared to spend some time and make multiple visits to their enclosures, or even multiple visits to the Zoo.

Early on, when I visited the Gorilla enclosure, no Gorillas were out. I consulted my Zoo map which also has the time for events, and found there was a Gorilla keeper talk at 2:30 pm. That seemed a likely time to see the baby. It was – all the Gorillas were on display.

But that was also the time that the Tigers were being fed. So I went from the Tiger enclosure to see the Gorillas, and then back to the Tigers. it worked out OK. Here are some photos of the Tigers, mainly the now quite large cubs.
