Barrenjoey – Cliffcare – Bush Regeneration – 13 July 2013

Stu had organised a group of rock climbers to head out to the cliffs of Barrenjoey to spend a morning weeding – removing bitou bush and asparagus. This was one of series of weekends that Stu had organised with the National Parks and Wildlife Service to help with bush regeneration.

Barrenjoey is a popular place for rock climbing. This was the first time I had been out there for weeding.

We arrived at the carpark, and after some briefings we scrambled on the boulders on the seaward side of the headland to the north side where we started our weeding. The work done on previous work days was very impressive and was inspiring for us.

After lunch, one of the rangers, Jude, gave us a tour of the Barrenjoey Lighthouse. This was a fascinating place with great views.
