Bushcare at West Head – 13 October 2019

Our Bushcare Group were heading to West Head for some weeding in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. We travelled by car to Cottage Point Wharf, and from there to our weeding site near White Horse Beach in Flint and Steel Bay by barge.

It was an interesting trip in the barge. On the way we passed a Sea Eagle perched in a tree.

At the weeding site there was pretty of Lantana and Croftons Weed to keep us busy. We where weeding near the site of an old and now demolished house.

During lunch, we noticed a Whistling Kite hunting for fish nearby. It made several dives, and the last one was successful.

A Pelican was also fishing.

Then we noticed the barge had returned. It was time to pack up and head back to Cottage Point.

Thanks to Enmoore for the organising of our group and the assistance of NPWS Ranger Jude.
