My exercise for the day was a bike ride to and from Barton Park. I took my camera with me and rested at Barton Park, at the Landing Lights Wetland and took a few photos of the birds.
WhenI arrived, there were not too many birds in he main pond. No Stilts or Avocets, and very few ducks. In the far distance I spotted a Striated Heron. But by the time I got close it had hidden somewhere.
The I heard a kerfuffle in the trees to the south. It sounded like a raptor alarm. I watched and sure enough a Brown Goshawk was there. I waited and it did fly closer before flying away to the west.
Here is a Teal coming in to land.
And some Sacred Ibis flying past.
I then could hear the calls of some Golden-headed Cisticolas. One was cooperative and I got some photos as it broadcast its territorial call in all directions.
Another bird photographer turned up and we chatted from a distance. His name was Roger.
I spotted the Striated Heron on the far side of the pool. I got distant photo, but again when I got closer it had flown away.
This happened later on too.
Here is a White-faced Heron –
I then made my way down the creek towards. On the far side was a Great Egret.
There was another on the top area.
It flew off to the pond, and when it landed it disturbed another Great Egret which took off.
There were not that many other birds in the top area near the sports fields. Her is a New Holland Honeyeater in the Lantana.
Looking down, I could see Roger photographing an Egret.
I then headed down to the lower level. Her is a Superb Fairy-wren –
And some last shots, a Great Egret, a Teal and a Spoonbill –
Thanks for the mention. Always loved your blog and is a great guide for where to go birding!
