Cooks River Bird Survey – 9 June 2020

I spent a nice early morning wiht the Mudlarks helping to survey the birdlife along the Cooks River. on this survey we met at the Lang Street Bridge at 7:30 am and surveyed downstream on the south back, then crossed over and surveyed along the north back – through the golf course and the Dibble St Wetland.

At the bridge at Lang St, we saw a nice Spoonbill.

We then crossed Wardell Road. It was quite misty, which made bird spotting more challenging.

A flock of Little Black Cormorants flying overhead –

It was interesting to find some Pepper Pot Puffball – Myriostoma coliforme.

And some of the common birds – a Silver Gull and a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo.

Less common was this nice Figbird –

Here si a White-faced Heron –

And a Great Cormorant –

And lastly this Rainbow Lorikeet –

After this, I headed out to spend the rest of the day at Malabar Headland.
