Fungi at Sassafras Gully – 17 June 2020

Two days earlier, I had met Meg, who was collecting waxcaps for the herbarium at Ferndale Park. She invited me to join her on another collecting trip at Sassafras Gully at Springwood. The weather forecast was not that good – rain after about 11 am. So we started off down the Wiggins Track.

We soon arrived at the creek and the junction with the main track. We found quite a few waxcaps out. Here are some –

Hygrocybe miniata

Gliophorus graminicolor

Hygrocybe anomola var. anomola

Hygrocybe anomola var. ianthinmarginata

Hygrocybe mavis

Hygrocybe aurantiopallens

Hygrocybe sp.

Hygrocybe astatogala

Hygrocybe sp.

Humidicutis taekeri

Hygrophorus involutus

Hygrocybe roseoflavida

Hygrocybe sp.

Humidicutis helicoides

And some of the other fungi –

Urnula campylospora

Ramariopsis crocea

Ramaria sp.

The rain started around noon, so we then left to walk out. It had been a good morning.
