Malabar Headland – 6 July 2020

This turned out to be a fairly quiet day out on the headland. Not much bird or whale activity.

White-bellied Sea Eagle

I walked out to near Boora Point. I did spot some whales, but they wee not very active as they cruised past.

I looked around but at first could not spot either of the Peregrine Falcons.  Here are some of the other birds, a Gannet, a Superb Fairy-wren and a New Holland Honeyeater –

Eventually, the Peregrine Falcons appeared. I spotted one hiding, and only just visible –

After visiting some other parts of the headland, I came back. This Faclon was still in the same place – but a little further along. It was playing in the sand – probably removing mites.

The second Peregrine Falcon (female) was sitting in one of her usual spots –

The male was not very active.

Way out at sea, a couple of Whales did breach.

Anda Gannet flying past –

This Gannet was fishing –

This whale was closer, but not doing much.

Meanwhile not much action form the Peregrine Falcons. While I was away, they both flew off. I waited but did not see them again.

Like on my previous visit, a Sea Eagle flew over. This one is immature. It flew over while I was on the way to Magic Point, so I could not see if it had an altercation with the Peregrine Falcons.
