On this weekend I did two separate canyoning trips – both good days out.
On the Saturday, I headed up with Doug and Nick for a more remote canyon. This canyon had only one short abseil but lots of swims. It was very warm weather so we didn’t mind these.
Here are a few more photos from the day –
On Sunday I joined up with Martin, Su Li, Brent, Scott, and Shaza for a Why Don’t We Do It In The Road Canyon near Mt Wilson. This was another good day. Bushfires had been burning in this area recently but the canyon was not too bad. Mostly quite green. Like many canyons, the deep walls had protected it from the fire.
This canyon is popular with beginners because of its easy access and it was quite crowded on the day. However there were no traffic jams, and some of the abseils are optional – they can be scrambled around.
Bright sunshine made canyon photography a challenge.
Once we reached the Wollangambe River, we headed upstream on a narrow ledge to one of the canyon exits. Before climbing out we stopped for lunch and were entertained by one of the local residents – a water dragon.
More photos are on my website. Here (Saturday) and here (Sunday).
