Taronga Zoo Visit – 26 August 2020

A very pleasant visit to Taronga Zoo. On this occasion, I met up with Sue, who I know from NPA walks. She also has a yearly pass. It was the perfect day for a visit – the Zoo was extraordinarily quiet. Not that many visitors – few overseas tourists, no school students on excursion. No crowds.

We saw a lot of animals on the day. Here are some highlights –

Squirrel Monkeys

We then visited the new Lion enclosure. The lions were in their usual state however.

Then past the Meerkats and Fenec Foxes

Then to the Rainforest Aviary –

A Langur

The Bongo

One of the Gibbons

A Cotton-top Tamarin –

Then to the bird show. First the Black Kite

The Buzzard –

The Barking Owl

The Condor

And a Major Mitchell Cockatoo

Then a visit to the Gorillas

Only part of the Reptile House was open.

The Lemurs –

Then more birds in the Blue Mountains Bushwalk –

A Koala

Emu

Then another visit to the Lions. One was active.

And the Sumatran Tigers were active.

Back to the rainforest Aviary, different birds this time.

The Pygmy Hippo

Fishing Cat

Then to finish, a visit to the Waterbird Aviary –
