I decided to head back to Emu Green for some more bird photography. This visit, my main aim was to try and photograph some Emu-wrens. In this, I failed – not even seeing any. But there were plenty of other nice birds there.
On the walk to Emu Green from Emu Plains station, I didn’t see any birds at the Whistling Kite nest. But on arriving at the barrier to the lane, I spotted a Nankeen Kestrel flying quite high overhead.
I also met Bruce, who I know from fungi photography. He had just arrived and was also photographing birds.
A bit further along the road I spotted a Brown Goshawk.
A group of White Ibis were flying overhead –
I spent a bit of time looking and listening for Emu-wrens without any luck.
At the end of the lane, I could hear a Sacred Kingfisher. I didn’t take too long to spot.
Here is a White-throated Tree-creeper –
I then headed to where I had seen Rainbow Bee-eaters. I had sent Bruce to that spot. He had seen them, so waited for them to turn up. They did.
This one is coughing up a pellet –
When the Bee-eaters flew off, a Silvereye flew in –
Above was a Peaceful Dove –
Here is a New Holland Honeyeater –
And some Zebra Finches –

Then one of the Rainbow Bee-eaters returned.
Heading back into the forest, I spotted a Whipbird –

Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo
I also met another bird photographer I know – Phillip, at the reserve.
