Mudlarks – Cooks River Bird Survey – 13 October 2020

I spent an interesting and enjoyable morning with the Mudlarks – the Cooks River Bird Group. This month we surveyed the birds downstream of the Lang Street Bridge, as far as the footbridge to the Golf Course, then headed back upstream on the northern side.

Here are some of the birds that we saw –

Welcome Swallows

Australasian Figbird

Laughing Kookaburra

Olive-backed Oriole

Magpie Lark at nest

Willie Wagtails at their nest

We saw this rather large eel in the Dibble Street Pond –

The group finished with morning tea.

Hello David, The Tawny Frogmouth right next to Boat Harbour, next to the path have a baby. There was none yesterday, but it is protecting one today. You might have the time.

Great news! And thanks for letting me know. I went down late this afternoon – and was able to spot the chick. Its very small and eyes still closed.
