Birds at Tempe and the Cooks River – 21 October 2020

I made a visit to Tempe Wetlands and Tempe Reserve, and at each place I took part in The Aussie Backyard Bird Count. I went to those places because I had made counts there on the previous two years. Then when I had finished I walked home via the Cooks River.

At Tempe I did not record any special birds. It was nice to see a lot of breeding going on – adults feeding the chicks, birds sitting on nests etc. Here are some photos from Tempe –

When I left, I started out for Gough Whitlam Park. I checked the Satin Bowerbird. I spotted it but only got a poor photo.

I could spot the Oriole nest nearby and one of the parents.

I had also been given some information from Mark of the Tempe Birdos, of where to look for a Tawny Frogmouth sitting on a nest. It is in a fenced off area west of Gough Whitlam Park. I soon spotted the bird –

I will have to keep a watch to see if it has any chicks.
