I was keen to see the Kingfishers again, so headed out to Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside for some more bird photography.
I was on the lookout for Azure Kingfishers and wanted photos of them diving for and retrieving fish. As it turned out – although I did see at least one of the them – it was too fast for me to get any photos of it diving. I did see some Sacred Kingfishers – but they remained static.
When I arrived I spotted a Blue-faced Honeyeater. But I only obtained this rather poor photo –
I did the walk around the perimeter twice, and both times I didn’t see that many birds. Perhaps the cicadas were too noisy?

Eastern Rosella
Back at the ponds, looking for Kingfishers, I spotted this Tawny Frogmouth –
And here are some photos of a Sacred Kingfisher –
This one was flying to grab a cicada.
It seemed to be by itself. Perhaps its mate is sitting inside a nest?
Here are some other members of the Kingfisher family – Laughing Kookaburras –
On previous recent visits, I had spotted a White-winged Chough on a nest. It was still there and two other Choughs were not far away.
Later, the Chough was inspecting the nest.
On the second perimeter walk, I saw this nice Varied Sittella –
And different Sacred Kingfisher –
And this Eastern Spinebill looks rather dishevelled –
Earlier, at the ponds, while looking for Azure Kingfishers, I saw this Little Pied Cormorant catch a small turtle –
And some other birds later on. The original Sacred Kingfisher –
And the Tawny Frogmouth –
Here is an Australasian Figbird –
And some of the Turtles –
And a last photo of the Little Pied Cormorant –
