Nature at Wolli Creek – 31 March 2021

I had a pleasant afternoon ramble along Wolli Ck, walking down the Two Valleys Track between Bexley North and Turrella. Earlier on the day, a friend, Deb, had told me about some new Flying Foxes that had appeared at the camp near Turrella – and that was one thing to look out for.

I had photographic gear for birds and fungi. I did not find too much fungi out along the track. Here is some I did see –

Abortiporus biennis

Omphalotus nidiformis

And one of the birds – a Golden Whistler

And at the Flying Fox camp. First one if the usual residents, a Grey-headed Flying Fox

But these ones bunched together are Little-red Flying Foxes –

The Little-red Flying Foxes are about half the size of the Grey-headed species. And their wings are more transparent.

At the Flying Fox camp, I bumped into Valerie, who had also been told by Deb to look out for them. Many thanks to Deb for letting me know about her great observation.
