Some wet weather was possible, so I thought a short excursion would be suitable – so I decide to head up to Springwood and check out the fungi in Birdwood Gully.
On my visit, it only rained for a very short time. The fungi was not super abundant, but I did manage to find some nice species, and I also got the impression that a lot of fungi were starting to appear.
A lot of coral fungi i was out. Here is some –
Clavulinopsis fusiformis
Ramaria sp.
Ramaria ochracea
Clavulina cinerea
I did not see too many waxcaps. Here are some –
Hygrocybe aurantiopallens
Porpolomopsis lewelliniae
And some Russulas –
Russula rosea
Russula persanguinea
Russula sp.
Quite a few Armillaria were out –
And here is a nice cluster of Hypholoma –
I think this is a developing Sanguinoderma rude –
Pseudohydnum gelatinosum
This next one is a mystery. They were going on an old log. I have seen them the past two years – but growing on a dirt bank. It is a small species – perhaps an Entoloma?
Another unknown species –
A Bolete – Tylopilus ballouii –
Lycoperdon perlatum
Gomphus sp.
Cantherellus concinnus
Lactarius clarkeae
And now for some of the Ascomycota. First Urnula campylospora –
Geoglossum cookeanum
Trichoglossum hirsutum
Note that these clubs are hairy –
And some discs –
Hymenotorrendiella eucalypti
Discinella terrestris
I also saw a few Greenhood Orchids. Most had been knocked down by rain.
