Wolli Ck Nature Walk – 17 May 2021

I was interested to see what fungi could be about along Wolli Ck. So I caught a bus to Bexley North and then walked down the Two Valleys Track – to Tempe and continued along it, up the Cooks River to Wardell R road and then walked home. It was a pleasant excursion – and I observed birds, flying foxes and fungi.

Spangled Drongo

First some of the fungi –

I did not find that much out, but did spot some nice waxcaps along the way.

Hygrocybe astatogala

Hygrocybe austrapratensis

Cortinarius sp.

Clavulinopsis sp.

Ramariopsis simplex

Hygrocybe austrapratensis

Clavulinopsis amoena

Now for some birds –

New Holland Honeyeater

Spangled Drongos

A month or so ago, I spotted a Spangled Drongo in the valley. Now there appear to be at least two. I think one at least is a juvenile.

Red Wattlebird

Willie Wagtail

Yellow-faced Honeyeater

White-browed Scrubwren

Grey Fantail

Silvereye

Eastern Spinebill

Pied Cormorant

Olive-backed Oriole

Nankeen Night Heron

Little Black Cormorant

This cormorant appears to have a red plastic band caught around its neck.

I also stopped off at the Flying Fox Camp. Grey-headed Flying Foxes
