After coming back from the Coxs River, I headed out in the early evening to visit the Tawny Frogmouths in a nearby park in Dulwich Hill. I soon spotted the birds – an adult and two chicks perched together.
I had arrived at about 7:19 pm, but it was not for another 30 minutes, at 7:49 pm that there was the start of some action. The parent started some wing stretches.
It then moved a short distance from the chicks.
Some more wing stretching followed.
At 8:06 pm the one of the chicks woke up.
And it was soon followed by the second chick.
At 8:13 pm the parent took off and flew to a nearby tree.
Then one of the chicks flew up to a higher perch.
At 8:14 pm the lower chick flew over to the parent.
And at 8:15 pm the second chick flew over o the others.
It was now getting very dark, and the birds had flown over to a nearby house, so I made my way home.
