I first visited Barton Park to see what birds were out, then later visited Morton Park at Dulwich Hill where I met Valerie and Sue to look at the Tawny Frogmouth Family.

First Barton Park. This was a relatively short afternoon visit. Here’re some of the birds at Landing Lights Wetland –
Pied Stilts

This Pied Stilt flew straight at me. There were no nests nearby, so perhaps it was a courtship display, to demonstrate to rivals that it was fearless, or perhaps it was trying to move me away from the juvenile?

Black-faced Cuckoo-Shrike

Osprey

The Osprey made a very brief flyover, causing pandemonium in the other birds.
White-faced Herons

Furber in Barton Park, on the higher area, I spotted this Tawny Grassbird –

And later, when walked past a tree, a Grey Goshawk flew out.

I walked in the direction it had flown, to see if I could find it. I did. It was perched in a tree.

And lastly a Superb Fairy-wren –

Later, in the afternoon, I met friends Valerie and Sue at Morton Park in Dulwich Hill and we soon located the Tawny Frogmouth family. Here are the two chicks –

An adult was perched not far away.

While we were there, the chicks remained asleep.

And, as on previous visits to this family, I could only find one adult.
