Fungi at Ferndale Park – 18 January 2022

I was originally planning to head up to Springwood and check out the fungi in the gullies there, but wth poor weather forecast, I thought it would be better to go on shorter trip to Ferndale Park at Chatswood. The rain radar showed rain in the mountains that was slowly heading to the city. As it turned out – I had light rain while I was at Ferndale Park and my visit was quite short.

Despite fair bit of recent rain, the fungi was not that great. Still too early in the season.

Here is some of what I saw –

Puffballs – Lycoperdon sp.

Cyptotrama asprata

Rimbachia cf. bryophila

Note the tiny white filaments below the fungi above.

Descolia recedens

Trogia sp.

Perhaps Boletellus ananiceps

Leucocoprinus lacrymans

Coral Fungi – Perhaps Clavulina sp.

And some Slime Moulds.

Fuligo septica

Tubifera sp.
