I joined Brian Everingham and others from the National Parks Association of NSW for a visit to see the birds in the wetlands at Sydney Olympic Park. We had an early start, meeting near Lake Belvedere at 7 am.
in the party were Brian, Valerie, Helen, Allen, Suzanne and myself. The day was quite wet and we did a fair bit of photography under umbrellas. But it was World Wetlands Day and we didn’t mind getting a little wet.

Unusual for the area, we spotted two Pied Oystercatchers in the Waterbird Refuge. Here is one of them –
