Some rain was forecast, so I decided on a short trip to Chatswood – to visit Ferndale Park to check out the fungi, and then continue walking down Swaines Creek to the Land Cover River and then follow the river downstream.

The fungi at Ferndale Park was not as abundant as I was hoping. Perhaps still too early in the season, despite recent rain. Anyway, -here is some that I spotted –
Calocera aff. sinensis

Lactarius eucalypti

Stereopsis hiscens

Tremella mesenterica

Microglossum viride

Chlorociboria aeruginascens

Clavaria fragilis

On the way along Swaines Creek, I found a small cluster of Bonnet Orchids (Cryptostylis erecta)

And for some birds –
Brown Thornbill

Superb Fairy-wren

Dollarbird

This Pacific Koel – juvenile, was calling loudly for food.

Its foster parent, a Red Wattlebird is looking rather tired.

At the sporting park I saw a number of Laughing Kookaburras –

And the osprey nest was not occupied.
