Wattamolla Photo Walk – 7 February 2022

This was a very pleasant morning outing to the Wattamolla area of Royal National Park. It was organised and led by Brian Everingham for the National Parks Association of NSW.

The aim was to wander around – looking for good photographic subjects close to Wattamolla and also the inspect the new work done in the area.

In the party were Brian, Ross, Suzanne, Narelle and myself.

Now for some photos –

Water Dragon

New Holland Honeyeaters

The Coast

Rock Warbler

We spent a bit of time on a rock ledge – with some amazing sculptured sandstone.

Further along, at Providential Point, we saw the remnants of a waterspout –

And some more wildlife –

Water Dragon

Red-browed Finch

Down near Wattamolla Lagoon –

Crested Terns

We had lunch at one of the new picnic tables near the carpark. It seemed to cope well when it started to rain offering good shelter. We then walked out along the Coastal Track to the dam and back.

Christmas BellsBlandfordia nobilis

And Brian spotted this nice orchid –

Corunastylis fimbriata

I got a lift back to Sutherland Station with Brian, and on the way he stopped off at Audley to check if some orchids were still out. They were. We spotted two –

Corunastylis filiformis

It had been a very pleasant and interesting trip. Thanks to Brian for organising it and for the lifts.
