I joined a large group of Sydney University Bushwalkers and friends to walk down and camp on the Coxs River just off the SixFoot Track.
The Coxs River at the campsite is delightful. It flows through a granite area and the water has carved the granite into beautiful shapes. Sculpture by Nature! I find it a good place to wander around with a camera and tripod.
The river is also a great place for a swim. Near the campsite is a large swimming hole. Every years we go down to the river, the pool seems to change. The rocks don’t, but the sand does. Sometimes the pool is shallow, sometimes deep. The river changes too. This time the water level was quite nice after recent rain.
We camp on a series of grassy flats just back from the river. There are plenty of trees to provide shade.
Except for the walk in and out – it is a lazy weekend. Plenty of swimming and mucking about on the rapids. Plenty of photo opportunities. Good company with plenty of socialising, and also good food and drink to share.
More photos are on my website here. Many thanks to Ashley Burke for organising the walk.
