Hawthorne Canal Birds – 10 April 2022

After coming back from a morning spent at Ferndale Park, I headed to the Hawthorne Canal in the afternoon for an hour or two. Things there started off quietly, but then the Sacred Kingfisher appeared and also the Brown Goshawk.

Here are some of the birds I saw –

Chestnut Teal

Rainbow Lorikeet

Sacred Kingfisher

Then I noticed a lot of the local feral pigeons had taken to the air.

I looked around for a raptor. I saw one flying, It was a Brown Goshawk and then it landed in the same pine tree that had seen it perched in on my last visit.

Back to the Sacred Kingfisher. This visit, it seemed to hide behind branches most of the time.
