Fungi at the Castra Falls Circuit – 8 May 2022

Castra Falls is another place I have found great for fungi. The falls lie in a scenic reserve within a forest planation. There is a loop track that visits series of waterfalls. The track was constructed and is maintained by local volunteers. Many thanks to them for their great work.

This was another outing with my sister. The circuit is near the locality of Nietta between Ulverstone and Leven Canyon. We parked at the start of the track on Gaunts Road and soon made or way towards Silver Falls.  This time we competed the circuit walk which ends a short way further along Gaunts Road. On previous visits we have  been interrupted by rain. All the way along the track and in particular along the rainforest section below Silver Falls we found fantastic fungi.

Here is some of what we spotted. Again, I will start with the colourful waxcaps.
