I spent a very interesting morning with members of the Sydney Fungal Studies Group Inc at Coachwood Glen on the Megalong Road at Blackheath. We found wide range of fungi. A lot of area was very wet – waterlogged by recent rain and consequently a lot of the fungi we found was growing on logs.
Here is selection –
Waxcaps were few and all quite small.
Hygrocybe sp.
Hygrocybe anomala var. anomala
I am not sure what this one is –
Psilocybe subaeruginosa
Galerina patagonica
Panellus stipticus
Hericium coralloides
Clavaria pusio
Clavulinopsis sulcata
Clavulinopsis amoena
Artomyces austropiperatus
Scutellinia scutellata
Lachnum sp.
Perhaps Mollisia aff. cinerea
Ascocoryne sarcoides
Xylaria castorea
Trichoglossum hirsutum
Thuemenidium sp. “Australasia”
This interesting club was spotted by Sarah, and was growing on a moss covered log. I had originally thought it was Thuemenidium berteroi, but this new designation is now used. I have seen it growing in Tasmania twice – in rainforest at Castra Falls and at Lake St Clair. More information can be found here.
Geoglossum sp.
Peziza repanda
Plectania campylospora
Ophiocordyceps robertsii
Bactridium flavum
Caterpillar infected with a mould
Slime Mould (Trichia sp.?)
We surveyed from about 10 am till close to 1 pm on what was a very cold day. Many thanks to Trevor and Kerry Millichamp for the lift up to the reserve and for helping with the identifications.
