Barton Park was not my first choice for a bird photography venue, but with rail chaos, it seemed a good option given that it is easy to reach by bus.
I arrived around 10 am and stayed for about 4 hours. It was relatively quiet during my visit in terms of birds. Landing Lights Wetland was quiet when I arrived. I saw a Double-barred Finch in a tree near the boardwalk.
A Little Black Cormorant flew past.
There were a few Pied Stilts and terns in the wetland.
Waling around the park, I photographed one of many Grey Fantails –
And here is a Welcome Swallow about to grab an insect –
Superb Fairy-wren
Golden-headed Cisticola
Willie Wagtail
This White-faced Heron has just caught an insect –
Brown Honeyeater
New Holland Honeyeater
Little Black Cormorant
So a quiet visit. No raptors? Not quite. I did see one flying through the trees near the Golf Firing Range. Probably a Brown Goshawk. But it vanished in the trees.
