Birds at Barton Park – 9 September 2022

It was raining during the morning and seemed to be fining up in the afternoon, so I headed down to Barton Park with my camera. It turned out to be a relatively quiet and short session of bird photography – a storm was approaching, so I left earlier than I intended. But still it was nice to be outside.

Here are some photos –

Superb Fairy-wren

Striated Heron

I could see plenty of small fish near the Heron, but it didn’t seem interested. Perhaps these ones are poisonous?

Double-barred Finch

Great Egret

Superb Fairy-wren

Australian Reed Warbler

During my visit, I did see a very distant raptor – perhaps hovering over the airport. When I walked closer to that area, the bird was no longer around.

    Hi Dave
It’s hard to tell from the photo but the fish being ignored by the heron appear to be puffer (or toad) fish which are very toxic
