After the Mudlarks Bird Survey, I travelled out to Malabar Headland and spent the rest of the day there. The Peregrine Falcons were active.
I arrived at the Peregrine Falcon nesting site around noon, after walking in from Malabar. I soon spotted the male perched on a boulder on a lower ledge.
A minute or two later it took off –
It flew off around the cliffs. Below were some dolphins –
The male returned around 12:45 pm.
It had some prey. It looked like a very small bird.
It soon finished its snack and took off again in less than ten minutes.
It returned about 5 minutes later and landed on the lower ledge. it was now about 1 pm.
The Peregrine Falcon looked a bit wet.
The Falcon stayed on that ledge till about 2:15, and then took off –
While it was gone, some Ravens flew past having a squabble.
The male Peregrine Falcon arrived again at 3:22 pm
About ten minutes later, it took off –
It seemed to fly into the nest ledge. At 3:45 the female appeared.
It spent some time preening, then took off about 4 pm.
It flew down and landed on one of the lowest ledges.
Then it took off.
And landed higher up again.
It was then time for me to head home. Another interesting visit.
