This day was at least a lot finer than the day before. There was a fair bit of rain on the radar, but most seemed to miss me at Sydney Olympic Park.
I walked into the park from Concord Station, and walked to the Waterbird Refuge in Bicentennial Park.
On the way I saw this White-faced Heron hunting in the mangroves –
At the outlet of the pond, I spotted this Little Egret –
Far out in the pond, where a group of Pied Stilts and Bar-tailed Godwits –
And by themselves were some Red-necked Avocets –
A Australasian Darter was on one of the wrecks in the Bay –
A Great Egret was hunting in the bush near the hide –
Some more Pied Stilts, from the hide –
And next to Wentworth Common. Here is a Superb Fairy-wren –
Chestnut Teal
Superb Fairy-wren
Australasian Grebe
Superb Fairy-wren
Magpie with grub –
Back at the hide, another Pied Stilt on a nest –
The Bar-tailed Godwits, and Pied Stilts had moved to the shore.
The Little Egret had moved to the Island in the main pond of the Waterbird Refuge.
Near the smaller ponds, a Great Egret had just grabbed a skink.
Luckily, it didn’t fly too far away to eat it.
A last Superb Fairy-wren –
And, as I was leaving, I heard the raucous call of a Channel-billed Cuckoo.
