Since the development work has started, I have not visited Barton Park (and its Landing Lights Wetland) that much. The trips that I have done there have been pretty depressing. But I thought it was time for another look. This was an afternoon visit.
Here are some of the birds I saw –
White-faced Heron
Pied Stilts
Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike
Golden-headed Cisticola
Chestnut Teal
Near the wetlands, I spotted a single stinkhorn – Lysurus mokusin –
Red-browed Finch
Silvereye
Australian Wood Duck
Here is a Waterskink –
And a Superb Fairy-wren –
It was low tide and there was a large number of fish – of all sizes in the Spring Street Canal at the cycleway bridge. But the Striated Heron was not there to feast on them.
And before I left, a last view of the wetland and a Pied Stilt –
