Malabar Headland – 21 February 2023

I normally only visit Malabar Headland during the Peregrine Falcon breeding season or for whale watching. But every now and then – I like to make a visit toes how things are. This time, I met Sue at Maroubra Beachand we walked out onto the headland.

The main birds we saw were the New Holland Honeyeaters.

We didn’t see any Peregrine Falcons or other raptors and few waterbirds except for Silver Gulls.

We did seem to see rather a lot of of helicopters.

Here is a Copper Skink

And this White-faced Heron was down on the rock platform. It seems to have a feather out of place.

We found a shady spot for lunch – and there was a nice cool sea breeze. We later walked to Malabar Beach where we had a swim before heading home. Despite the lack of interesting birds, we had a very pleasant day.
