Birds at Sydney Park – 22 February 2023

I made another visit to Sydney Park and spent an enjoyable few hours there photographing the birds. Here are some photos –

Buff-banded Rail

This rail made a brief appearance.

Lewin’s Rail

This was not so good. I spotted a deceased Lewin’s Rail on the Wetland boardwalk n the wet side of the large pond. I could see no signs of predator attacks perhaps it dies from natural causes? There had been a big storm the previous evening.

Black Swan family

Australasian Grebes

There was one Grebe in the island pond.

And three in the large pond – one a juvenile.

And hard to spot, was a Dollarbird perched on tree on the island. It has been at the park for quite a few weeks now.

Australian Reed-Warbler

Little Black Cormorant

White-faced Heron
