I spent a pleasant morning at Sydney Park looking at the birds. This visit I was by myself. I was hoping to get some better photos of the Dollarbird (if it was still around) – particularly flight shots.
The Dollarbird was still at the park, and still perched in one of the trees on the island. Here it is calling –
Some Rainbow Lorikeets flew past –
And this Noisy Miner is demonstrating that they are honeyeaters.
Every now and again, the Dollarbird would take off and fly around a bit. It was probably catching insects.
Meanwhile, a Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike flew past –
And the Dollarbird flew back to its perch –
I wandered around a bit, and eventually spotted a Buff-banded Rail –
Back to the Dollarbird. I was now waiting on the bridge near the island.
Here it as small insect –
And I think it opens it’s beak to swallow the insect.
There were two Australasian Grebes in the Island Pond. An adult and a juvenile.
There was also an adult and a younger juvenile in the large pond –
And I finished off with some Welcome Swallows in flight –
