Birdwood Gully Fungi – 4 April 2023

I was keen to do another visit to Birdwood Gully at Springwood to check out the fungi after recent rain.

I had a good trip, but had to look hard to find the fungi I did. I found quite a lot of interesting fungi, but generally the fungi was not that abundant.

Hygrocybe sp.

These were growing on a log. Perhaps Mycena sp.

Cystolepiota sp.

Russula sp.

Entoloma sp.

I am not sure what these are  –

Russula sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

Bisporella citrina

Rimbachia cf. bryophila

It was good to see a return of the beautiful blue Entoloma virescens. These were quite abundant in one small area. Perhaps 30 of them?

Hygrocybe sp.

Hygrocybe sp. Probably Hygrocybe batesii.

This one is rather waterlogged by the orange gills indicate that it is Hygrocybe taekeri.

And there is second one behind –

I am not sure what these are –

Trichoglossum hirsutum

This looks like an emerging Amanita sp. –

Hygrocybe sp.

I am not sure what these are –

Very small, perhaps forming Dacrymyces cupularis.

These are coming up out of wood –

Pseudohydnum gelatinosum

Another unknown species –

Ramaria sp.

Phaeoclavulina ochracea

Cantharellus concinnus

Cordyceps sp.

Cruentomycena viscidocruenta

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Wasp OrchidChiloglottis seminuda

Greenhood OrchidPterostylis acuminata

Rimbachia cf. bryophila

Bolete

Slime mould and fungi –

Perhaps Mycena sp.

These are very tiny, growing on a log –

Bolete

Cystolepiota sp.

Russula rosea

Hygrocybe sp.

Bolete

Perhaps Leucocoprinus lacrymans
