Mason Park Wetlands – 5 April 2023

I spent the morning at Mason Park Wetlands at Homebush. Again, I was on the lookout for the Spotted Crake (and the Latham’s Snipe) – and again with no success. But I did observe a lot of other interesting birds.

While I was at the Wetlands, a Brown Goshawk visited on a number of occasions.

Here are some of my photos –

Black Swans

It looks like the swans may be nesting.

Superb Fairy-wren

Black-fronted Dotterels

Pied Stilts

White-faced Heron

Little Egret

Brown Goshawk

When the Goshawk appeared, all the Pied Stilts took to the air.

And the Pink-eared Duck appeared.

The Brown Goshawk returned.

Again, the Pied Stilts all took to the air –

The Brown Goshawk landed in tree at the edge of the wetland. It was then harassed by a Willie Wagtail.

It did not take long for the Brown Goshawk to fly off.

It had been an interesting morning.
